He saw the bend.
He saw what he had to do.
He somehow did not see the tree until his car was wrapped halfway around it.
If trees could talk they would tell tales that seemingly revolved around this annoying plot line.Fortunately they cannot, we are thus left with the screeching of tires, the resounding clang of crashing metal, and the sibilant hiss of a dented tree.
